Hello Residents,
I hope you are all coping with the uncertainties of covid at this time. We are fortunate in Selwyn to have a high level of vaccinations; please ensure you are boosted and wear a mask when required so that we can minimalize the risk of serious infections in our community.
Road works
Good news, funding has now been confirmed for the Shands/Trents roundabout and the Shands/Hamptons roundabout. Work is progressing on design and procurement.
The Springs/ Hamptons roundabout is programmed to follow and this will then see the completion of the $24m intersection improvement package.
Speed Limits
The new bylaw became operational on December 1st, and signage has now been installed, the 40kh limit through the center of the township adds 19 seconds to the time travelled to pass through Prebbleton. A small price to pay for a safer township and noticeable improvement in traffic behaviour.
Our New Park
Behind the hedge on Birchs Road, our new park is taking shape, the fields will be seeded soon and planting will commence in May. This first stage of the park is due for completion and opening in November and will include cycle tracks and a long-awaited dog park.
Omicron is circulating in our local communities, please remember to wear your mask and isolate if you are unwell, look out for your neighbours, and assist them if needed. Together we can get through this.
If you would like to contact me text or call on 0274339964 for the most direct response or email me at malcolm.lyall@selwyn.govt.nz I look forward to hearing from you and helping with local issues.
Malcolm.
